Out on the Shelves display competition

The Out on the Shelves display competition takes place each year in June. This campaign month provides an important opportunity for libraries throughout Aotearoa to uplift and celebrate rainbow people and stories, and Dunedin Public Libraries are always excited to get creative to promote their collection of rainbow books, films, graphic novels, and digital resources.

This year is all about Blooming with Pride! DPL wanted to show the beauty of rangatahi blossoming into their own unique selves and borrowed some inspiration from this year's Met Gala theme "The Garden of Time" by taking the floral theme to the extreme!

The Progress Pride Flag is made up of hundreds of handcrafted paper flowers, stuck onto two repurposed banners. A labour of love for the team who hope those coming to hang out in the Teen Space in the City Library will enjoy being greeted by this blooming gorgeous piece of art.
