Enjoy an evening of conversation as Vanda Symon chats to award-winning New Zealand author, columnist, journalist and editor, Steve Braunias about his latest book “The Scene of the Crime”.
The Scene of the Crime presents twelve extraordinary tales of true crime and punishment in modern New Zealand. In the hands of Steve Braunias these cases become more than just courtroom dramas and sensational headlines. They become a window onto another world, where things go badly wrong and the strangeness of once invisible lives is revealed.
Aucklander Steve Braunias is best known as a columnist, and his weekly satirical diary is a regular feature in the Otago Daily Times. He has one every major writing award in New Zealand.

Brooks.
Australian-born Geraldine Brooksgrew up in Sydney. She worked as a reporter for The Sydney Morning Herald and The Wall Street Journal, where she covered crises in the mideast, Africa and the Balkans. She was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in fiction in 2006 for her second novel,March. Her novels Caleb’s Crossing andPeople of the Book were New York Times best sellers. Her first novel, Year of Wonders is an an international bestseller, translated into more than 25 languages and currently optioned for a major motion picture starring Andrew Lincoln.
