Submissions for the Moana Nui Microfiction Comp '25 are NOW OPEN!

Submissions close Monday 10 March 2025

This year the theme is 'Moana Destinies of the Deep South'.

One submission per person (250 words) for tangata whenua or tangata moana living in Otago and Southland.

Two categories:

Youth (15-25yrs) - Judge: Lisa Blakie, lecturer of Māori and Pacific Literature, University of Otago

General - Judge: Jenny Bennett, winner of the Commonwealth Short Story Prize (Pacific).

Each category winner will receive a Prezzy Card worth $200.

Winnings stories will be read at the Moana Nui Festival Saturday 29 March at Forsyth Barr Stadium
