Applications for the 2024 Reykjavík UNESCO City of Literature International Residency Program are open

Reykjavík UNESCO City of Literature announces the 2024 call for applications for the International Residency Program for writers.
The Program is dedicated to all emerging writers, and poets with at least one published book currently working on a project. The Residency Program is a perfect opportunity to professionalise writing skills, find the optimal conditions for creative work, and present your own writing to a new audience.
What is offered:
- Two-week stay (1-14 October) at Gröndal’s House in the centre of the old town in Reykjavík
- Stipend of €650
- Transportation costs to and from Reykjavík
- Opportunities to participate in the literary life of the city to promote your work in Iceland.
What is expected:
- Connection with any UNESCO City of Literature outside of Iceland
- At least one published book (fiction or non-fiction), a poetry collection, screenplay or theatre script by the applicant
- Work on a literary project during the residency
- Upper-intermediate level of spoken English
- Required documents should be sent to: grondalshus@reykjavik.is with the subject: “International Residency Application” + "applicants full name and connected City of Literature"
- Extract from a published text (in original language or English), no more than 2 pages in length.

- Optional: recommendation letter, letter of motivation

To submit an application, please fill out the application form below along with the required documents by June 14th 2024.
The selected applicant will be notified before the 1st of July 2024.
