Aotearoa NZ Artists in the Spotlight!

If you don't know David Elliot, you may have lived under a rock - help is here!

David Elliot is a well-known illustrator and writer for children. In addition to his own books - and Oink is a well deserved classic - , he has illustrated for Margaret Mahy, Joy Cowley and other bestselling local and international writers (most notably Redwall author, Brian Jacques). David has received national and international recognition with books as diverse as Snark (for all ages) and Bumblebee Grumblebee - for the young and young at heart!

David loves his home in Port Chalmers, and much of his work is inspired by the surrounding coast, its history and wildlife. He is also increasingly drawn to the ‘wind and waves,’ in and beyond Otago Harbour, and this is reflected in his creative outputs.

David’s work is available for purchase – books, original art, prints and more - in The Flying Whale Gallery at 13 George Street, Port Chalmers owned and managed by his wife Gillian.
