Friends of Ukraine Hub
Posted: Friday Jul 29, 2022
Please drop into the Friends of Ukraine Hub next to I Love Paris in the Golden Centre Mall in Dunedin between 25-31 July, where you can:
- Learn more about Ukraine and its rich cultural, natural, and historical splendour from beautiful information panels compiled by Ukrainians in New Zealand.
- View a photo exhibition, courtesy of professional photographers currently living and working in Ukraine.
- Send a heartfelt message to a Ukrainian person by making a card or writing a letter and posting this into the barrel in the Hub. All letters and cards will be posted to people in Ukraine at the end of August 2022.
- Pick up a pattern from the Hub and have fun with friends and family making traditional Ukrainian Motanka Dolls. These can then be donated back at the Friends of Ukraine Hub, if you wish, so that they may be adopted by others in return for donations to help Ukrainian people in need.
- Write a message of compassion on a post-it-note available from the Hub and add this to the Wall of Hope.
- Discover different ways in which you may wish to support Ukrainian families during these challenging times.
Plus, there will be fantastic additional activities in the Friends of Ukraine Hub on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 July to appeal to all ages.
Saturday 30 July
- 10am-5pm: Speak to people from the group, Ukrainians in New Zealand, who will be happy to answer your questions.
- 11am-1pm: Join Olha Viazenko from the group for a traditional Motanka Doll Making Workshop.
- From 11 am: Purchase baking products, expertly crafted by Ukrainian ladies and community members of Otago. All proceeds will go towards helping Ukrainian people to resettle in New Zealand as a result of the current war.
Sunday 31 July
- 10.30am: Attend a presentation about Ukraine, delivered by Olha Viazenko and fellow Ukrainians.
- 12.30pm: Attend a workshop hosted by experienced licenced psychologist Olga Pushenko.
Money collected during "The Ukrainian month" in Dunedin Friends of Ukraine Hub will be transparently distributed to the Ukrainian families or individuals who already arrived or will arrive from Ukraine to Otago and Southland, New Zealand, as well as for helping Ukrainians to settle here such as language courses, workshops, consultations etc. The Ukrainians who flee from war in Ukraine to Otago and Southland, New Zealand, need your support.
