Hurahia ana kā Whetū
Visitors are guided through Hurahia ana kā Whetū – Unveiling the stars by multiple narratives. In this exhibition of works from the gallery’s collection, curated by Paemanu Ngāi Tahu Contemporary Visual Arts, Paemanu’s perspectives sit alongside those of an additional group of contributors.
Since the exhibiton opened in June 2021, more than thirty people have contributed to this kaupapa. They have written wall labels that are being added as the exhibition progresses, to mihi each artwork and expand the conversation through historical, personal and poetic responses.
This week, we are pleased to highlight recent additions by Katia Banci, Jacinta Beckworth, Megan Brady, Paul Faris, Aidan Geraghty, Bridie Lonie, Anna Marie Mirfin, Frances Perez-Hernandez, Bridget Reweti, Ed Ritchie and Rauhina Scott-Fyffe. It’s a great time to visit – or revisit – the exhibition and experience the artworks with the perspectives of these writers.
