Winning writers take to airwaves
Posted: Thursday Nov 03, 2022
Winners of the University of Otago’s annual creative writing competition have recorded their works for broadcast and podcast on OAR FM Dunedin.
The competition, for Otago University staff and students, was established in 2019 as part of the university’s 150th celebrations and proved to be very popular.
This year’s competition included alumni for the first time, offering entrants the opportunity to harness their creativity and write a short story or a poem on the theme of "Brave New World".
Close to 100 entries were received, for judging by New Zealand writer and Otago University staff member Craig Cliff.
Mr Cliff said it was a privilege get a taste of what concerns and delights staff, students and alumni in 2022.
A broadcast of readings of the winning entries will be held on Sunday, at 12.30pm, on 105.4FM and 1575AM. Podcasts are available from oar.org.nz, Google podcasts and Apple podcasts.
