A Scattering of Words – Creative Writing from Artsenta

A Scattering of Words – Creative Writing from Artsenta

Posted: Tuesday Apr 16, 2019

A compilation of poetry by 16 emerging writers from Dunedin creative space, Artsenta, was published in March this year. Launched by Minister of Health and local MP, David Clark, this book is a celebration of language, a celebration of talent, and a chance to showcase the creative writing from the mental health community.

There is no theme to this anthology, just the idea of collecting the diverse voices of our artists and sharing their creativity and experiences with the community.

Artsenta is a community-based art studio for people who use mental health or addiction services. In March 2017, a creative writing group was formed and it is out of this activity that the book was conceived.

For more about our writing group see our writers’ blog at www.artsenta.org.

A podcast of a special radio show on ‘A Scattering of Words’ is also available and features interviews and readings from some of the writers. See https://oar.org.nz/event/artwaves/

Copies of the book can be purchased at the University Bookshop and the Otago Arts Society.
