Possibilities

I prefer to smoke weed when the sun is out,
but the night time’s ok too.
I prefer pure water.
I prefer quiet to loudness.
I prefer the roar of the sea
to the howl of the wind,
and my favourite sound
is the churn of matau au
by moonlight.
I prefer it when ideas are bigger,
with less form, before
you smash them up
and turn them in
to something else
that fits inside
your brain,
your mouth,
my ears.
I prefer that those kereru
don’t perch on the power lines
when there are so many sturdy branches nearby.
I prefer level 4 lockdown.
I prefer not to talk
to people who have nothing to say.
I prefer fish to hens
as pets, less hassle,
and I just can’t stand that
Simon Bridges or his mate
Paula Bennett.
I prefer possibilities to write pulp on demand
with no thought for who or how
or when or
whatever.
