Register to be part of the festival and apply for funding

In Ōtepoti Dunedin we acknowledge the midwinter return of the lone star Puaka and the star cluster Matariki, celebrating the Māori New Year through a diverse citywide programme of community events that celebrate wānaka (learning) and whanaukataka (community).

You or your rōpū can register to be part of the festival. You can also apply for funding to help hold your event, gathering or activity.
The Puaka Matariki Festival Grant funding is now open for applications to support a wide range of events in the festival programme.
