Mystery guest: David Loughrey

Creative Cities Southern Hui warmly welcomes DAVID LOUGHREY as delegate and mystery guest. David will be participating in events for the duration of the Hui, and writing a short site-specific murder mystery especially for delegates.
Dunedin writer and Otago Daily Times local government reporter David Loughrey is writing a murder mystery especially for the event, a dark tale involving property developers, heritage advocates, bar owners, street artists and even librarians. The story will be set in the buildings and precincts in which delegates will visit and work, and will feature the sorts of concerns, controversies and debates that cities can have in real life.
Around the time of the Hui the story will be published in the Otago Daily Times.
David writes ‘A Strictly Local Matter: David Loughrey's Dunedin’, a regular column in the newspaper in which he presents a vexed and slightly absurd version of the city and its surrounds.
He once almost won an award.
Last year he was able to run 400m in 1min 26sec, and he probably still could.
‘I'm looking forward to meeting other writers, and seeing how they dress. I'll be keeping a close, and sometimes judgemental eye on that.’
