Dunedin Fringe Festival - Orama (Envision), Anga (Create), Manuia (Prosper)

Ma'taria Pekepo's exhibition is heavily inspired by her Cook Island Maori background - she wants to promote the beauty of her culture through vibrant hues, traditional patterns and motifs that represent her people.

The Cook Island Maori language is amongst the fastest dying languages of the Pacific: only 9% of Cook Islanders today speak Cook Island Maori! It's Ma'taria's hope that her work will showcase the vibrancy of her culture, and give her Pacific brothers and sisters a sense of pride when they see her work. Ma'taria aims to inspire other potential artists to come forward and produce their own magic :)
