NZYWF: A Young Person’s Guide to Artspeak

Sunday, 15th September 2024 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Blue Oyster Gallery, 16 Dowling St, Dunedin

Art writing – whether in a textbook, magazine, press release or on the wall next to an artwork – can sometimes be as confusing as the art itself. Is such writing a barrier to entry or a necessary component of contemporary art? Join artist/writers Nathan Wilson and Piupiu Maya Turei (Wairarapa Moana, Te Atihaunui-a-Paparangi) for a walking tour of Ōtepoti art galleries, including the Blue Oyster Art Project Space and Dunedin Public Art Gallery, as the group locates art writing in the wild and critically evaluates its findings.
